Workers at Somerton Center and Garden Spring Center have provided quality care for seniors in North Philly for decades, while earning a good wage and affordable health care for their own families.
Now the two nursing homes have been bought by Vita, a new company that has cut some workers' pay by up to $11,000 a year, and is refusing to participate in union funds that ensured caregivers have quality, affordable health care, and training and education opportunities.
